{"id":733,"date":"2020-02-21T20:26:14","date_gmt":"2020-02-21T20:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.barronspropertymanagers.com\/blog\/?p=733"},"modified":"2020-02-21T20:26:14","modified_gmt":"2020-02-21T20:26:14","slug":"rent-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.barronspropertymanagers.com\/blog\/2020\/02\/21\/rent-payments\/","title":{"rendered":"Rent payments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hi Tenants!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we are in the middle of February, most tenants have\npaid rent! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some have even paid for March already (way to go!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some have not even paid February, which was due on the 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked \u201cwhen will rent be paid?\u201d some tenants respond\nwith \u201cwhen this gets done, I will pay rent\u201d, this is <strong>NOT<\/strong> a valid reason to withhold rent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keeping the line of communication open with your property\nmanager is the best thing to do. Not letting your property manager know your\nsituation, when you plan to pay, and\/or avoiding calls\/messages\/emails will\nonly cause more problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Make sure\nto update your property manager with issues and changes. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The owner has to be updated promptly on why rent was not paid\non time, when it will be received, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We understand sometimes there are situations that cannot be\navoided. We will try to work with you first<strong>,\nit is in your best interest and ours for you to pay rent<\/strong>, whether it be on\ntime or a few days late. But when rent becomes 5, 7, 10, days late, etc., we\nare obligated by our commitment to the owner to resolve the situation and that\ncould mean a 3 day notice being posted on the property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some other things to keep in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Paying on time will go toward potential <strong>rental references<\/strong> in the future<\/li><li>Rent goes to <strong>maintenance<\/strong>\nneeded\/completed at the property <\/li><li>You don\u2019t have any utilities to pay if you are evicted\nfor not paying rent<\/li><li>Putting your best foot forward will show <strong>goodwill<\/strong> for a <strong>possible lease renewal<\/strong><\/li><li>Raise your <strong>credit\nscore<\/strong> (Bonus!) <\/li><li><strong>Avoid<\/strong> late fees\n(Always a good thing)<\/li><li><strong>Avoid<\/strong> 3 day\nnotice to vacate \/ eviction (big no-no &amp; follows you for years!)<\/li><li><strong>SOMETHING\nIS BETTER THAN NOTHING<\/strong>, paying a partial amount and the rest at a later date\nis better than not paying anything. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In summary, pay rent on time and <strong>TALK TO YOUR PROPERTY MANAGER<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi Tenants!
